CODIFICA LETTURA

Subtractive color synthesis has always been applied in the PMU on the CMYK model. To identify and read a color it is important to have some specific terminologies present which may have other meanings and synonyms in different systems and fields of application. To avoid confusion, it is better to specify what is meant in this Color Identification Chart by:

• Tone: name of the color

• Hue: color variant

• Temperature: hot / cold

• Value: tone height or light / dark

• Saturated / unsaturated: purity / contamination with black or white

Each color has an intrinsic value. To better understand this concept you can take a picture with your mobile phone and reduce the "saturation" to zero. In this way you will get a black and white image, with a thousand shades of gray. This is because each nuance has a value (light-dark / brightness-opacity). The scale of the values by convention ranges from 1 to 9, from white to black. In addition, another international convention scale was superimposed corresponding to the various heights of tone (or value) in the field of cosmetic colorimetry applied to the world of hairstyle, very useful when we need to get close to the color of the eyebrows already present or create them completely remaining consistent with the hair or the chromatic characteristics of the person. This complementary coding facilitates the choice of the color to use or a possible online purchase having clear both the tone height (light / dark), reflection and temperature. That's why, for the eyebrow colors, the first number of each "nuance" identifies the height of the tone and the subsequent numbers instead characterize the primary color of the shade and then the secondary one.
